Who is this course for?
This course is recommended for anyone who works with children or young people with special educational needs and disabilities, and/or their families. This includes, but is not limited to, healthcare workers, teachers, nursery nurses, family support workers, child-minders, sports clubs, youth and community workers, etc.

Aims of the course
By the end of this course, delegates will:
- Understand key issues specific to working with children who have a disability
- Learn about some of the myths concerning the abuse of children and children with SEND
- Be able to identify potential warning signs which may indicate or suggest a SEND child is being abused
- Learn about the responses required from professionals and others involved with children with SEND to adequately protect them
- Learn about best practice for responding to concerns about child abuse
- Learn about some of the barriers to both detection and disclosure of the abuse of children with SEND
- Learn about the prevalence of abuse with SEND children
